IMPORTANT RACE COURSE UPDATE

8/21/2020

Dear Athletes,

We have had good meetings with city officials and are proceeding full steam ahead for our Sunday October 11, 2020 race in Cocoa Beach.

We cannot wait to see you run!

The pandemic, however, has forced us to adjust our race distance to being only a 10-k for this year.

Given social distancing and CDC recommended bus protocols of just one person per row on a bus, it is neither efficient nor safe to place each of our athletes on a bus for transport 7 miles to the traditional starting line as we have done in the past.

So, for this year, we are changing both the Half Marathon and Half relay to one 10-k race course with both the start and finish line near the historic finish line at Lori Wilson Park (I Dream of Jeannie Lane) in Cocoa Beach.

We intend to implement and meet or exceed all USA Track & Field, local and state Covid safety protocols for the race itself.

All currently registered Half Relay entrants will be moved over to the 10k race.

All currently entered Half Marathon entrants will also be moved over to the 10k and additionally given a $25 credit* that can be used for either the February 7, 2021 Publix Florida Marathon or Half Marathon or the 2021 Cocoa Beach Half Marathon.

An updated map of the run is attached below. The race will begin on A1A Northbound right by the Hilton Cocoa Beach and end on A1A by Lori Wilson Park (site of our original finish line).

We have worked hard to keep this event going despite very trying times that also include the loss of our title sponsor for this year.

Please understand that changes are necessary in order to keep everyone safe, and a safe bus ride is something we cannot guarantee given current circumstances.

We will have more detailed emails as we approach race day.

Entry remains open.
